Baseball Scores Extra Inning Win To Earn Split At Pitt-Bradford

BRADFORD- The Pitt-Greensburg baseball team split a doubleheader with Pitt-Greensburg in an AMCC Twinbill Saturday afternoon.
Pitt-Greensburg scored three runs in the eighth inning to earn an 8-6 win in game one, while Pitt-Bradford plated four in the bottom of the seventh to complete a 5-4 comeback victory in the nightcap.

Notables
  • Tony Iannuzzo earned his second win of the season, tossing seven strong innings, where he scattered seven hits and struck out two
  • Mikey Sullivan earned the save striking out two in the eighth inning.
  • As a team, Pitt-Greensburg batted .364 on the afternoon, totaling 24 hits, 12 runs, three doubles, and drove in 12
  • Jacob Davey led the way with five hits, two runs, two walks, and both a double and a triple
  • Ben Green and Sullivan each collected four hits on the afternoon
  • Sullivan also drove in a team-high four runs
  • Jace Cappellini and Randy Hubbard both knocked in three RBI each.
  • Dylan DeRoss and Hubbard each had two hits in the twinbill.

Game 1- Pitt-Greensburg 8, Pitt-Bradford 6- 8 Innings

Following a two-run bottom of the seventh inning to tie the game at six, which forced the game into extra innings, Pitt-Greensburg would put together a three-hit eighth inning, which resulted in three runs.

The first two batters of the inning both got out, but Pitt-Greensburg would use some two-out lighting in the eighth. DeRoss singled through the left side and would proceed to steal second to put himself in scoring position. Bonadio drew a walk and Green followed the walk with a base hit up the middle, which scored DeRoss to put the Bobcats back in front. On the throw home to try and get DeRoss out, Green and Bonadio advanced to second and third respectively.

With runs on second and third, Cappellini came up huge with a single to right center, which plated two big insurance runs.
Sullivan came on to pitch the ninth and recorded two k's to send UPG to the 8-6 win.

Game 2- Pitt-Greensburg 4, Pitt-Bradford 5

Pitt-Greensburg continued the momentum from the extra inning win into game two as they plated four hits in the top of the first as they would jump out to a 2-0 advantage.

Bradford got a run back in the third, but in the fifth Hubbard and Sullivan each drove in a run as Pitt-Greensburg increased its lead to 4-1.

Both teams were held scoreless in the sixth and Pitt-Greensburg headed to the bottom of the seventh leading 4-1. Heading into the seventh inning, UPG starter Andy Prentice had allowed just one run on six hits, but Pitt-Bradford would collected four-runs on four hits in the inning and would go on for the 5-4 comeback win.
