Baseball Belts Four Home Runs To Sweep Medaille On Senior Day

GREENSBURG- The Pitt-Greensburg baseball team belted four home runs en route to a sweep of a doubleheader over Medaille, Sunday afternoon at Bobcat Park.

Prior to Sunday's twinbill, Pitt-Greensburg honored seniors Dylan DeRoss, Tony Iannuzzo, Andy Prentice, and Paul Tumicki.

Pitt-Greensburg took the opening game of the day 18-7 and completed the sweep with a 20-7 victory.

Notables

Game 1- Pitt-Greensburg 18, Medaille 7

Pitt-Greensburg jumped out to a four-run lead tallying four runs on three hits in the bottom of the first, but Medaille answered with a run in the second and two scored in both the third and fourth to take a 5-4 lead heading to the home half of the fourth.

Following scoreless innings in both the second and third frames, UPG would get its bats gong in both the fourth and fifth innings, scoring five runs in each frame to take control of the game.

Pitt-Greensburg added four runs in the sixth and would go on for the 18-7 win.

Game 2- Pitt-Greensburg 20, Medaille 7

Pitt-Greensburg would never trail in game two and scored a season-high 20 runs on 23 hits. Thorp tallied five hits in the nightcap, followed by four each from Bonadio and Sullivan. DeRoss, Davey, Cavanaugh, and Carson all chipped in with two hits each.

DeRoss, Renzi, Sullivan, and Thorp all went deep for the Bobcats in game two and UPG would go on for the 20-7 win.
