Women's Soccer Storms Past Muskingum In Home Opener

GREENSBURG - The University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg women's soccer team stormed past Muskingum University, 8-0, in their home opener Saturday afternoon at Ridilla Field.

The Bobcats improved their early season record to 5-0 behind a seven goal second half, and sent the Fighting Muskies back to Ohio with an 0-2 record.

It was another dominating performance for Pitt-Greensburg on both sides of the field. They out-shot Muskingum 26-2, 15-2 on goal, and got 17 corner kicks while only allowing one.

Tiffany Michalek led the Blue and Gold offensive attack with three goals, off of eight shots. She now has a team high seven goals over the first five games. 

Ashley Lucas found the back of the net twice, including the Bobcats lone first half goal which came at the 27 minute mark. 

Juliana Bedoya scored her first two goals of the season in the 52nd and 82nd minute. 

Becca Kubler dished out the only two assists for the Bobcats, which came on Lucas and Bedoya's first goals.

Lauren Yoder improved to 4-0 in net with 81 minutes of scoreless work. She saved both of Muskingum's shots. Gabrielle Weber finished the last nine minutes in goal and did not face a shot. 

Prior to today's contest, Pitt-Greensburg welcomed back their 2019 AMCC Championship team and awarded them with commemorative rings. 

Pitt-Greensburg will return to the pitch on Wednesday for a matchup against the 2020 Presidents Athletic Conference Champions, Chatham Cougars. Kick off is slated for 4 pm at Ridilla Field.
