Men's Soccer Settle for Draw in Season Opener

Bobcats and Thiel finish in 1-1 draw

GREENVILLE- The Bobcat men's Soccer team traveled to Greenville, PA for their season opener against the Thiel Tomcats. Thiel was aided with a late goal by Chase Yopp in the 81st minute to bring the teams to the eventual final score of 1-1. The Bobcats were led on the score sheet by sophomore Jason Argueta's first goal of the season. Argueta's goal was assisted by freshman Adam Yoder in the 20th minute. 
 
Pitt-Greensburg put the pressure on early and often, accumulating 12 shots, six in the first half and six in the second half, in regulation time. Six of those 12 Bobcat shots made it to the goalkeeper. The Bobcats offense was tamed in the two overtime periods. UPG was unable to record a shot in extra time. Argueta led the team with two shots on goal. Freshman Vinny Treonze and senior Carson Gilarno attributed two shots during the match. 
 
The Bobcat defense stepped up in allowing only five shots on goal in regulation time. Sophomore Danny Rodgers accumulated two saves out of three shots that he faced. Thiel goalkeeper Devin Weisbarth was forced to make six saves on the night. 
 
Pitt-Greensburg will be in action again this Saturday when they travel to Pittsburgh to face the Carlow Celtics. Kickoff will be at 4 p.m.
