Melvin's Hat Trick Leads Bobcats Past Carlow

Box Score PITTSBURGH, PA – The Bobcat Men's Soccer team took the pitch in Highmark Stadium and came out with a victory over the Celtics of Carlow by a score of 4-2. Pitt-Greensburg was led on the field by Javin Melvin, who put together a hat trick for UPG. 
 
Melvin was able to get the Bobcats on the board in the 9th minute with his first goal of the match. The goal was assisted by Lucas Killen. Melvin got on the board again in the 20th and the 65th minute. Carson Gilarno and Brian Seidl earned the helpers in Melvin's second and third goal respectively. Vinny Treonze scored the Bobcat's only goal not scored by Melvin. 
 
Pitt-Greensburg out shot Carlow 15-14 and had one more shot on goal than the Celtics. Shayne Kasic saved three out of the five shots he faced for the Bobcats. Melvin led the Bobcats with seven shots and three shots on goal. Carson Gilarno also contributed two shots of his own, with one getting on goal. 
 
Pitt-Greensburg will next be in action on Sunday, Sept. 5 when they take on Penn State Greater Allegheny. The game will be played at Westmoreland County Community College and kick off is set for 4 p.m.
