GREENVILLE, PA – The University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg women's soccer team rolled past Thiel College, 5-0, Wednesday evening to begin their 2021 campaign.
The Bobcats scored all five goals in the first half. The 2019 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference goal scoring leader, Ashley Lucas, picked up right where she left off. Less than three minutes into the game, she found the back of the net to put the Bobcats up, 1-0.
Becca Kubler netted the second goal 6:40 into the contest, her first collegiate goal of her career.
Tiffany Michalek scored at the 16:46 mark and then kicked in another 10 minutes later to push the Bobcat lead to 4-0, halfway through the first half.
The Pitt-Greensburg scoring attack was rounded out by Emily Bonelli, who also scored the first goal of her career, at 38:33.
The Blue and Gold dominated both sides of the ball all night long. They shot 19 times and put 12 on goal, while holding the Tomcats to just two shots all night, one each half, and only one on goal.
Michalek and Lucas led the offense with five shots apiece. Michalek placed four on goal, while Lucas did four.
Lauren Yoder started and played the entire first half and did not have to face a shot, thanks to the Bobcats stellar defense. Paige John entered in the second half and saved the Tomcats lone shot on goal. Gabrielle Weber finished the final 13:15 in net for Pitt-Greensburg.
