Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Bobcats Blaze Past Hood

FREDERICK, MD- The University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg women's soccer team began their weekend road trip with a convincing 6-1 win over Hood College. The Bobcats scored five unanswered goals to propel their early season record to 2-0, and spoil the Blazers season opener.

Tiffany Michalek continued her strong start to the season with a goal in the opening minutes. Michalek found the back of the net after an assist by Jenna Conty, just over four minutes into the game to get the Bobcats ahead early.

The Blazers scored ten minutes later to knot the game at one.

Pitt-Greensburg took the lead back at the 32:18 mark and tacked on two more goals over a five minute span to take a 4-1 lead into halftime.

Freshman Sarah Tonkovich scored twice during that span, her first goals of her collegiate career. The second Tonkovich goal came on an assist pass from Michalek. Emily Bonelli scored the third Bobcat goal, unassisted.

Julia Rowe and Alexsia Barlamas added second half goals to expand the Pitt-Greensburg lead. Rowe's goal came on an assist from Barlamas, and was the first of her career.

Lauren Yoder manned the goal for all 90 minutes and made four saves, while surrendering just one goal.

The Bobcats were in control on the offensive end, as they out-shot the Blazers 12-10. All 12 shots by the Blue and Gold were on goal, while Hood had five on goal.

Ashley Lucas shot a team high four shots, all on goal, but each of them were corralled by the Hood goalkeeper.

Pitt-Greensburg stays on the road for a matchup with Wilson College in Chambersburg, PA tomorrow afternoon. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 pm.
