Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Marinchak, Karpuzi hit 15 three pointers, Men's Basketball Falls to Hood

GREENSBURG – It was a dreary rainy day outside of Chambers Hall as students arrived back to campus from Thanksgiving Break. The Bobcats and Blazers were also making it rain inside the gym with shots from behind the arc in a highly anticipated game between Hood and Pitt-Greensburg. Both teams combined to shoot 75 three-pointers in the game, making 32 of them. The Bobcats shot a scorching 47 percent from behind the arc, with 15 of their 17 makes coming from freshmen. Matthew Marinchak set a program single-game record with nine three pointers made in the game. Armend Karpuzi made six out of the eight three-pointers he shot. Combined the duo went 15-23 from behind the arc.

The Bobcats had a big start from Michael Gaffney as he was the anchor to bringing the ball up the court against the Blazers half court trap. Gaffney had five points and five assists in his first start of the season. Micah Jones cleaned up on the boards, securing nine rebounds.

The Bobcats played a solid all-around game against a team that took the No. 1 team in the country to three overtimes earlier in the season. Pitt-Greensburg shot a combined 50 percent from the field and had seven steals. The assist to turnover ratio was even for the Bobcats, who had 21 assists in the game.

Pitt-Greensburg will now be off until Dec. 7. The team will host Waynesburg in Chambers Hall that Tuesday at 7 PM.
