Durand Gets 1,000th Rebound; Women's Basketball Rolls Past Mount Aloysius

GREENSBURG – Nadege Durand became the second player in Pitt-Greensburg women's basketball history to record 1,000 career rebounds in the Bobcats 77-38 blowout victory over Mount Aloysius this evening inside Chambers Hall.

Durand pulled down seven boards to exactly reach the 1,000-rebound milestone in her 98th career game, putting her career average at an impressive 10.2 rebounds per game. The senior has also scored 1,000 points, a mark she hit in the 2019-20 season.

Sidney McCully led the scoring attack with 17 points, with 14 coming in the first half. Melina Maietta netted 16 points, the only other Bobcat in double figures as 10 players contributed to the scoring column.

It was a back-and-forth start to the game, with Mount Aloysius taking a one-point lead (15-14) after the opening ten minutes. The Bobcats turned the jets on in the second quarter, outscoring the Mounties 27-8 to take a 41-23 lead into the break.

Pitt-Greensburg never looked back in the second half, allowing just five field goals to the Mounties over the entire 20 minutes. The lockdown defense held Mount Aloysius to single digits for the second consecutive quarter in the third frame. The Mounties were held to four points and a 0-for-7 mark from deep in the third.

The Bobcats cruised in the fourth quarter to the near forty-point victory. Mount Aloysius totaled 13 made shots, the lowest by any opponent this season for the Bobcat defense. Pitt-Greensburg shot 51.7% on the night, its third time above the 50% mark this year.

The conference leader in rebounding margin, Pitt-Greensburg, was at it again, posting a +24 margin (55-31) over the Mounties. McCray led with 9 boards herself, as all eleven players that saw action grabbed a board.

Pitt-Greensburg will close out the regular season on Saturday against Alfred State inside Chambers Hall. Tip-off is set for 1 pm, the Bobcat seniors will be honored pre-game. The Bobcats won the last meeting 74-61 in Alfred on January 15.
