Bobcats Offense Struggles; Swept by Westminster

NEW WILMINGTON, PA – The Bobcat baseball team traveled north to take on Westminster in a doubleheader today. UPG combined for just seven hits over the two games and fell to the Titans in both games. Pitt-Greensburg was only able to generate one run throughout the two games.
 
Notables
-Jacob Davey reached base three times over the two games for the Bobcats with two hits and a walk.
-Alex Borges made another start a second base in game two and went 1-for-1 with two walks and a run scored in the game.
-Randy Hubbard pitched two innings in game one without giving up a hit.
-Jordan Cavanaugh drove in the lone Bobcat run on the day with an RBI single.
 
Game One
It was a fast start that propelled the Titans past the Bobcats in game one. Westminster scored two runs in the first inning. Reed Bursic was the starter for UPG and went five innings while giving up five runs on five hits. He struck out four batters while also walking four batters. Hunter Gideons, Chris Hammond and Jacob Davey each had one hit to total the Bobcats' three hits for the game.
 
Game Two
Pitt-Greensburg took an early lead in game two when Jordan Cavanaugh singled home Alex Borges in the first inning. The Titans answered back in the second innings, scoring five runs off of Zack Maritz in the inning. Westminster followed that up with three more runs over the next two innings and finished the game off with three more runs in the sixth inning.
 
Up Next
The Bobcats are scheduled to host Muskingum on Thursday. This will be a single nine-inning game and first pitch will be at 3:30.
