Baseball Drops Doubleheader to Rochester

MYRTLE BEACH, SC – The Pitt-Greensburg baseball team got their season started on Saturday, dropping a pair of games to the University of Rochester. The games took place in the Ripken Complex in Myrtle Beach.
 
Notables
Devin Renzi had four hits and scored two runs in the Doubleheader.
Jordan Cavanaugh hit his first collegiate home run in game one.
Brody Bonadio had two RBIs in game two.
Dereck Lopez pitched five strong innings in game two.
 
The Yellow Jackets got on the board early in game one scoring six runs in the first three innings, including a grand slam. The Bobcats answered back with a home run of their own with Cavanaugh's two-run shot in the fifth inning. Rochester then came back with two runs of their own and took control of the rest of the game.
 
In game two, Rochester went up 4-0 in the second inning, however, RBI singles by Will Thorp and Bonadio brought the Bobcats back within striking distance, only trailing by one run. UPG would tie the game in the next inning on a sacrifice fly by Mikey Sullivan which scored Hunter Gideons. The Yellow Jackets took the lead again in the sixth inning and didn't look back, defeating the Bobcats by a final score of 8-4.
 
The Bobcats will play again on Sunday against Ursinus.
