Bobcats Split Saturday Doubleheader Against Bradford


BRADFORD, PA – Every game is a playoff game this time of year for the Pitt-Greensburg baseball team. I what is a weekend full of huge matchups, the Bobcats split with the Panthers of Pitt-Bradford today. It was an offensive battle that took place in Bradford, with the Bobcats scoring 21 runs between the two games.
 
Notables
• Jacob Davey went 4-5 and scored three runs in game one.
•Michael Sullivan Jr. may have had the best offensive performance of the day for the Bobcats, going 3-for-3 with two walks and drove in two runs in game one. Sullivan also scored in the first half of the double header.
•Jace Cappellini went a combined 4-for-8 with four runs batted in and two runs scored on the day.
•The Bobcats combined for six doubles on the day.
•Brody Bonadio went a combined 6-for-10 on the day in the leadoff spot for UPG. He scored four runs and had an RBI in the two games.
 
Game One
After struggling against La Roche, freshman Dereck Lopez took the mound and pitched three innings for the Bobcats. He gave up just one run in the first two innings, however, a six-run third inning doomed the Bobcats. At the time, UPG was up 4-1. After Bradford scored another run in the fourth, Pitt-Greensburg came back and got within a run in the fifth inning. The Panthers then proceeded to put two runs on the board in the final two innings and sealed the game away.
 
 
Game Two
The second game was all about extra bases for the Bobcats, as the team hit five doubles in the second game of the twin bill alone. Brody Bonadio had one of those doubles while going 4-for-6 with three runs scored in the leadoff spot. Michael Sullivan Jr. and Randy Hubbard had three RBIs each while Jordan Cavanuagh drove in a pair as well.
 
Up Next
The Bobcats will hit the road again tomorrow for a critical AMCC doubleheader against Penn State-Altoona. The game will be played on the campus of Mount Aloysius in Cresson, PA. First pitch of game one will be at 1 pm.
