Comeback Cats Come Up Short Against Altoona

CRESSON, PA – It was a tale of two games for the Bobcat baseball team in its doubleheader against Penn State-Altoona on Sunday. The team couldn't hold a four-run lead in game one, giving up ten runs in the sixth inning.  It was the complete opposite in game two, where UPG erased an 11-0 deficit to tie the game, however the Bobcats were not able to complete the epic comeback and win the game.

Notables
Brody Bonadio had six RBIs in game two. He also came in and threw 4.1 innings in relief, giving up just three earned runs and struck out two batters.
Jordan Cavanaugh had two doubles in game two. He also scored three runs in the game.
Michael Sullivan Jr. pitched a solid five innings, giving up just two runs in game one. He was hit with a line drive up the middle in the sixth inning and was charged with four more runs in the inning. Sullivan also went 3-for-4 from the plate and drove in a run in game one.
• Eight different Bobcats had multi-hit games on the day.

Game One
UPG was cruising through game one on the double header, holding a 6-2 lead going into the bottom of the sixth inning. Some bad luck for the Bobcats, and timely hitting from Altoona doomed Pitt-Greensburg as the Lions scored ten runs in the inning alone. UPG threw three different pitchers in the inning, however the Bobcats were not able to stop the bleeding.

Game Two
The Lions jumped out to a huge 11-0 lead in game two, scoring four runs in the first inning, six runs in the second and one in the third. Brody Bonadio came in from his normal center field position to make his first pitching appearance of the year. He pitched 4.1 innings and held the Lions from scoring until the eighth inning. On the offensive side, the Bobcats kept chipping away at the lead and ultimately tied the game at 11 in the eighth inning. UPG mounted another rally in the ninth, but came up just short.
