Men's Basketball Suffers Tough Loss to Altoona

ALTOONA – The Pitt-Greensburg men's basketball team came into it's game against the Lions of Penn Altoona with a hold of the No. 4 seed in the AMCC. At that spot, the Bobcats would host the first round of the AMCC Playoffs. However, Penn State Altoona shot over 48 percent from the floor, over 45 percent from the three point line and 81 percent from the free-throw line en route to a 97-68 victory over Pitt-Greensburg.

Greensburg senior Micah Jones led the scoring for the Bobcats with 16 points while also grabbing four rebounds. Freshman Matthew Marinchak scored 12 points and junior Octavius Hardy brought down seven boards to go with ten points.

Mason Bush led the way for the Lions with 21 points while PJ Charles, who missed the first matchup between The two teams scored 17 points and brought in eight rebounds.

With the loss, the Bobcats move to 5-6 in AMCC play, tied with their upcoming opponents in Pitt-Bradford. Bradford will come to Greensburg as the Bobcats will celebrate the seniors and look to get a led up on the Panthers. Bradford was defeated by Behrend tonight, making the final three seeds for the AMCC playoffs tied record wise.

The Bobcats will also have to travel to Behrend on Feb. 18 in the team's final regular season game.

As for this Saturday, not only will it be senior day, but the Pitt-Greensburg Department of Athletics will be recognizing its 2023 Hall of Fame Class. Senior recognition will take place before the game, starting at 1:45 PM,  while the Hall of Fame recognition will take place at halftime.
