Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's Basketball Drops Hawks on Senior Day

GREENSBURG – It has been said that teams aren't judged on how they start, but how they are finished. The Pitt-Greensburg men's basketball team played it safe today with an electric start with 9 points off three shots to start the game, including from senior leader Michael Gaffney Jr. who sunk his first shot in two months. The game ended with Micah Jones hitting four huge free throws to seal it, and adding an emphatic dunk right before the buzzer for good measure. What happened in between was a physical, hard nose AMCC Basketball game, but the Bobcats came out on top 75-70.

19 points from sophomore Matthew Marinchak, accompanied by 18 points from Jones and 16 points from freshman Trent Rozich led the Bobcats to the win. Both Marinchak and Jones had seven rebounds and made three shots from deep.  Eight points from Ryan Greggerson, including two huge dunks to set Chambers Hall in a frenzy, as well as seven points, five rebounds, and five steals by sophomore Jackson Byer also propelled the Bobcats. Something that does not go in the stat sheet, but showed up huge for the Bobcats was senior Will Butler. Butler acted as another coach on the bench using his high basketball IQ to help navigate the Bobcats to a victory.

The Bobcats will head back on the road this week with two crucial games at Mount Aloysius and Pitt-Bradford. Pitt-Greensburg will travel to Cresson for a mid-week match up and then to Bradford as part of an AMCC doubleheader on the final day of the regular season.
