Men's Basketball's Second-Half Push Comes Up Short Against La Roche

GREENSBURG – The Pitt-Greensburg men's basketball team came into Wednesday's AMCC match up with La Roche winners of their last three games and sitting in the four seed in the AMCC. The Bobcats had their sights set on climbing the standings with a crucial victory in the midweek match up. Trent Rozich and Matthew Marinchak scored 16 points each and the Bobcats turned the ball over just seven times, but the RedHawks grind out a victory in what was a very even game.

A 16-point second half lead for La Roche shrunk to four points with under a minute left in the game. Clutch defense and two huge free throws by Jow Starzynski doomed the Bobcats last minute push. The Bobcats outscored the RedHawks 32-27 in the second half. James Evans-Mcquay and Jackson Byer also had solid games for the Bobcats. Byer scored 13 points, even rebounds, and four steals. Evans-Mcquay scored 12 with four rebounds.

Pitt-Greensburg will continue down the final stretch of AMCC play with a home matchup with Hilbert this Saturday. It will be Senior Day for Will Butler, Michael Gaffney, and Micah Jones. Tip off is scheduled for 3:00 PM.
