Offense Stays Hot in Baseball Split With La Roche

PITTSBURGH – The Pitt-Greensburg baseball team played its first AMCC doubleheader on Sunday in Pittsburgh against La Roche. The Bobcats dropped a one-run game in the first of the set, losing to the RedHawks 6-5. The offense came to play in game two, recording 18 hits and 15 runs to defeat La Roche 15-6.
 
La Roche took a quick 3-0 lead in game one, extending it to 6-1 in the third inning. The Bobcats came battling back, scoring four runs in the final two innings, but were not able to get over the hump. Pitt-Greensburg out hit La Roche 10 to five in the game. Thomas Smith and Wyatt Alridge each had multiple hits in game one.
 
Game two saw seven of the nine Bobcats starters have multiple hits, including sophomore Ben Aftanas who went 4-for-6 with three runs scored. Freshmen Zachary Tyson and Gabriel Pastrana each had two runs batted in. Five Bobcats had an extra-base hit. Sophomore Calvin Bernard earned his first win of the season, going six innings with just two earned run over eight hits.
 
The Bobcats will welcome Bethany to Bobcat Park tomorrow for a doubleheader. First pitch of game one will be at 1:00 PM.
