Baseball Earns Split in First Day of RussMatt Invitational

AUBURNDALE, Fla – The Pitt-Greensburg baseball team began their spring break trip with a doubleheader against OAC opponent John Carroll. The Bobcats took game one 7-4 behind 6.1 innings from Steven Muratore and three RBI from Hunter Gideons. Ben Aftanas earned the save in the match up, coming in to pitch the final two outs.
 
Aftanas also had two RBI and a run scored for the Bobcats, while playing solid defense at shortstop. Diego Santos also had a multi-hit game.
 
Game two saw John Carroll core six runs in the first two innings with just three of those runs being earned. Pitt-Greensburg made three errors in the game while John Carroll made two. The Bobcats came back to score four runs in the fifth inning to make it a three-run game. The Blue Streaks were able to keep the Bobcats at that and took the match up 8-5.
 
The Bobcats will take on Calvin tomorrow at 12:15.
