In a hard-fought and physical contest at Ridilla Field on Tuesday evening, the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg men's soccer team fell 2-1 to La Roche in a tightly contested Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) matchup.
The Bobcats (7-5-3, 4-1-0 AMCC) struck first in the 24th minute when Ivan Remaley's header found the back of the net off a well-placed assist from Cam Loveland, giving Pitt-Greensburg an early 1-0 lead. The goal marked Remaley's third of the season and capped off a strong attacking sequence for the home side.
La Roche (7-3-3, 4-0-1 AMCC) responded with a goal from Abdul Basit Suleman in the 36th minute to level the score heading into halftime. Despite a valiant defensive effort and four second-half saves from goalkeeper Nick Braun, the Redhawks broke through again in the 86th minute with a goal from Phillip Hawkins, which proved to be the game-winner.
Braun stood tall in net, recording four saves on the night. Offensively, Pitt-Greensburg managed three total shots, with Remaley's goal being the lone shot on target.
The Bobcats will look to rebound Saturday as they travel to Hilbert for another AMCC matchup. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:15PM.
