The Pitt-Greensburg women's volleyball team pushed La Roche to the brink in a five-set battle Wednesday night at Kerr Fitness & Sports Center, ultimately falling 3-2 (23-25, 25-18, 21-25, 25-14, 8-15) in a tightly contested Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) matchup.

Despite the loss, the Bobcats (2-18, 0-3 AMCC) showed resilience and flashes of strong play throughout the match, including a dominant fourth set where they held La Roche to just 14 points. However, the momentum from that set couldn't carry over into the decisive fifth, as La Roche regrouped and closed out the match with a 15-8 win.

Jackie Shields led the offensive charge with 11 kills and added seven digs, while Mia Stohon contributed 10 kills and 4 digs. Paige Phillips was efficient at the net, hitting .300 with six kills and three block assists.

 Abigail Smulik paced the team with 17 assists and 17 digs, while Lilly Buckles also tallied 17 assists and chipped in 10 digs and five service aces. Emily Hernandez anchored the back row with a team-high 21 digs.

The Bobcats recorded 47 kills on the night, matching La Roche's total, but were hampered by 32 attack errors. Pitt-Greensburg's best offensive set came in the second, where they hit .229 and cruised to a 25-18 win.

Defensively, the team totaled 84 digs and 12 block assists, with Lily Show and Phillips combining for four block assists.

Pitt-Greensburg returns to action this weekend as they continue AMCC play, hosting Hilbert on Saturday at noon.
