Match 1: Pitt-Greensburg vs. Alfred State
ALFRED, N.Y. – In the opening match of Saturday's tri-match at Alfred State, the Pitt-Greensburg women's volleyball team fell in straight sets to the host Pioneers, 3-0 (25-8, 25-14, 25-16).
Despite a slow start, the Bobcats showed improvement as the match progressed. Senior Paige Phillips led the team with four kills and a .231 hitting percentage, while Abigail Smulik added four kills and five digs. Lilly Buckles paced the team with seven assists and six digs, and Megan Cassaday contributed a kill and seven digs.
Pitt-Greensburg totaled 15 kills and 43 digs in the match, with Jackie Shields and Mia Stohon each recording six digs. Stohon also chipped in two kills, while Smulik led the team with five total points.
Match 2: Pitt-Greensburg vs. SUNY Oneonta
In their second match of the day, the Bobcats put up a stronger fight against SUNY Oneonta but ultimately fell 3-0 (25-16, 25-18, 25-18).
Mia Stohon led the offense with six kills and a .417 hitting percentage, while Smulik continued her strong play with four kills, seven assists, and a team-high 14 digs. Jackie Shields and Shyann Dongilli each added nine digs, helping anchor the Bobcats' defense.
Pitt-Greensburg recorded 18 kills and 52 digs in the match, with contributions from Paige Phillips (three kills), Dongilli (nine digs), and Lilly Buckles (five assists, six digs). The team also tallied five service aces, including one each from Bradley, Smulik, Buckles, Monzo, and Cassaday.
The Bobcats return home Wednesday as they will host Mount Aloysius for Senior Day. The game is scheduled for 7pm.
