Pitt-Greensburg men's basketball improved to 3-0 on the season with a hard-fought 90-81 victory over Allegheny on Saturday afternoon inside Chambers Hall. The Bobcats used a dominant second half, outscoring the Gators 51-39, to secure the win.
After trailing 42-39 at halftime, Pitt-Greensburg came out firing in the second half, shooting 60.7% from the field and 50% from three-point range. The Bobcats finished the game at an impressive 56.1% overall and 11-for-19 (57.9%) from beyond the arc.
Matthew Marinchak led all scorers with 28 points, knocking down 7-of-8 from three-point range and adding two steals. Trent Rozich was a force inside, recording 19 points, eight rebounds, and five assists, while Tony Martin chipped in 12 points, including two key second-half threes. Joziah Wyatt-Taylor provided a spark off the bench with 13 points, and Michael Bigley added 11 points and six boards.
Pitt-Greensburg's depth proved crucial, as the bench contributed 20 points and the team converted 17 points off turnovers. The Bobcats also held a slight edge on the glass, matching Allegheny with 33 rebounds.
Allegheny was paced by Ryan Lang (22 points, six rebounds) and Pijus Latauskas (17 points, nine rebounds), but the Gators couldn't overcome Pitt-Greensburg's hot shooting down the stretch.
The Bobcats will look to keep their unbeaten start rolling when they return to action Wednesday at Waynesburg, with tip-off scheduled for 7PM.
