Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Bobcats Stay Perfect with 88-74 Win at Waynesburg

Pitt-Greensburg men's basketball improved to 4-0 on the season with an 88-74 road victory over Waynesburg on Wednesday night at the Marisa Field House.

The Bobcats set the tone early, racing to a 47-36 halftime lead behind efficient shooting and aggressive defense. Pitt-Greensburg shot 46 percent from the floor and knocked down eight three-pointers, while turning 18 Waynesburg turnovers into 18 points.

After trailing 15-10 midway through the first half, Pitt-Greensburg responded with a decisive surge. Back-to-back three-pointers from Jackson Byer and Ty Keffer sparked a 17-5 run that flipped the momentum. Byer's second triple at the 2:30 mark pushed the lead into double digits, and the Bobcats carried a 47-36 advantage into the break.

The second half began with Pitt-Greensburg putting the game out of reach. The Bobcats opened with a 12-0 burst over the first three minutes, fueled by Byer's relentless scoring. He poured in eight points during the stretch, including two layups and a pair of free throws, as the lead ballooned to 59-36. Waynesburg made a late push to cut the deficit to 10 with under four minutes remaining, but Pitt-Greensburg answered immediately with a 6-0 spurt capped by a Tyler Freas fast-break layup to seal the victory.

Jackson Byer led the charge with 29 points, going 9-for-16 from the field and a perfect 8-for-8 at the free-throw line. He also added six rebounds and two steals. Ty Keffer and Joziah Wyatt-Taylor each scored 11 points, while Tyler Freas chipped in 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting. The Bobcats dominated in transition, outscoring Waynesburg 25-9 in fast-break points, and held a 40-30 advantage in points in the paint. Pitt-Greensburg's bench contributed 30 points.

Waynesburg's Cam Danser led all scorers with 30 points, including eight three-pointers, but Pitt-Greensburg's balanced attack and defensive pressure proved too much down the stretch.

Pitt-Greensburg will look to keep its unbeaten start alive when it returns home for its next matchup Saturday against Hiram, with tip-off scheduled for 2PM.
