Bobcats Remain Unbeaten with Big Win over Hiram

Pitt-Greensburg improved to 5-0 with a 97-71 win over Hiram on Saturday afternoon at Chambers Hall. The Bobcats overcame an early deficit and used a dominant second half to secure the victory.

Hiram jumped out to an 8-0 lead before Pitt-Greensburg responded with a 10-2 run sparked by Tony Martin and Jahmir Collins. A three-pointer from Joziah Wyatt-Taylor gave the Bobcats their first lead, and the teams traded baskets for much of the half. Trent Rozich scored inside, Matthew Marinchak connected from deep, and Collins added points at the line as UPG closed the half strong to take a 50-44 lead into the break.

The Bobcats took control after halftime. Marinchak hit another three, Rozich finished at the rim, and Michael Bigley added a layup to push the lead into double digits. From there, Pitt-Greensburg never looked back. Collins and Martin combined for 26 points off the bench, while Tyler Freas knocked down two key threes. The Bobcats forced 21 turnovers and turned them into 36 points while holding Hiram to 40 percent shooting in the second half.

Rozich led Pitt-Greensburg with 15 points, eight rebounds, and three steals. Jackson Byer added 12 points and seven rebounds, Collins and Martin each scored 13, and Bigley chipped in 10. They scored 50 points in the paint, added 14 fast-break points, and outscored Hiram's bench 48-20.

Pitt-Greensburg returns to action Tuesday as the travel across town for an exhibition matchup with DII PSAC opponent Seton Hill. The meeting between neighbors tips off at 2:30.
