The Pitt-Greensburg women's volleyball team traveled to Latrobe Saturday for a doubleheader at the Carey Center, facing off against Westminster and Saint Vincent. While the Bobcats dropped both matches in straight sets, the team showed competitive stretches and individual highlights throughout the day.
Match 1: Westminster 3, Pitt-Greensburg 0
Set Scores: 25-13, 25-10, 25-17
Pitt-Greensburg opened the day against a strong Westminster squad. After dropping the first two sets, the Bobcats pushed back in the third, battling to a 25-17 finish that featured five tie scores and two lead changes.
Mia Stohon led the offense with 11 kills, while Abigail Smulik added 3 kills, 9 assists, and 4 digs. Grace Bradley anchored the defense with a match-high 16 digs, and Lilly Buckles contributed 11 assists and 3 digs.
The Bobcats totaled 21 kills and 37 digs in the match.
Match 2: Saint Vincent 3, Pitt-Greensburg 0
Set Scores: 25-12, 25-12, 25-17
In the evening matchup, Pitt-Greensburg showed improvement in each set, culminating in a competitive third frame. The Bobcats recorded 9 kills and hit .103 in the final set, their best offensive output of the match.
Stohon again led the team with 7 kills, while Smulik added 3 kills, 8 assists, and 8 digs. Emily Hernandez posted a perfect hitting percentage and contributed 2 service aces and 3 digs. Jackie Shields, Paige Phillips, and Racey Scheuerman each chipped in multiple kills.
Pitt-Greensburg finished the match with 18 kills, 34 digs, and 6 service aces, continuing to show growth and determination throughout the day.
The Bobcats return to AMCC play on Tuesday as they travel to Penn State Altoona. Game time is scheduled for 7PM.
