The Pitt-Greensburg Bobcats (8-0, 2-0 AMCC) look to keep their perfect season alive when they host Alfred State (2-8, 0-2 AMCC) in an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference matchup on Saturday afternoon. UPG enters the weekend as one of only 17 undefeated teams in NCAA Division III, adding extra significance to this home contest.
Pitt-Greensburg is coming off an 89-88 thriller at Pitt-Bradford last weekend. The Bobcats trailed for much of the game before AMCC Player of the Week Trent Rozich delivered in the clutch, finishing with 28 points and 15 rebounds. Rozich leads a balanced Bobcats offense featuring four players averaging double figures: Rozich (17.3), Jackson Byer (15.6), Matthew Marinchak (11.9), and Michael Bigley (10.5). Rozich is also closing in on a major milestone, needing just 60 points to reach 1,000 for his career.
Alfred State comes in looking to rebound after a 70-44 loss to Penn State Behrend on Wednesday. The Pioneers were paced by Darius Cunningham (14 points) and Mykell Lawson (10 points) in that contest. On the season, Lawson (17.5 ppg) and Cunningham (16.3 ppg) have been the team's top scoring threats.
Historically, Pitt-Greensburg has dominated the series, holding a 9-1 advantage over the past five seasons. Alfred State's lone win came during the 2023-24 campaign, while the Bobcats swept last year's meetings by scores of 92-56 and 90-71.
Tip-off is set for 3 PM at Chambers Hall as the Bobcats aim to stay unbeaten and strengthen their hold on the AMCC standings.
