Cardiac Cats; Keffer's Last-Second Shot Lifts Bobcats Over Hawks

HAMBURG, N.Y. – The Pitt-Greensburg men's basketball team went from the Bobcats to the Cardiac Cats, scoring five points in the last ten seconds, ending with a buzzer-beating tip-in by freshman Ty Keffer with .1 seconds left on the clock to keep the win streak going and defeating Hilbert 83-82. Junior Matthew Marinchak had a key three-pointer at the ten-second mark to bring the Bobcats within one point and prime position for the last shot.

Hilbert guard Shaheem Ellis missed the front end of a one-on-one with six seconds left. Michael Bigley secured the rebound and got fouled, giving the Bobcats one last shot to enter the ball in play with three seconds left. Sophomore Trent Rozich threw the pass to Keffer. Keffer's first shot bounced off the front of the rim, only to come right back to him so he could get it up and in as time expired.

Rozich led the Bobcats with 20 points, eight rebounds, seven assists, and two steals. Joziah Wyatt Taylor, Marinchak, and Keffer scored 16, 15, and 12 points respectively. Pitt-Greensburg had another game with under ten turnovers, as the Bobcats have been caring for the ball. The team shot 50 percent from the floor and 90 percent from the free-throw line. The Hawks shot just 74 percent from the line, which turned out to be the difference in the game, as they missed the opportunity to extend the lead with under ten seconds left.

The Bobcats are in third place with two games to close out the regular season. If things ended today, the Bobcats would welcome the Hawks back to Chambers Hall in the first round of the AMCC Tournament. The Bobcats are one game behind Altoona in the second spot, with Altoona having to play Pitt-Bradford and La Roche in the final two games. Pitt-Greensburg has two home games, the first on Wednesday against Mount Aloysius. Tip-off inside Chambers Hall will be at 7 p.m.
