Timely Shots Elevate Men's Basketball Over Mount Aloysius

GREENSBURG, PA – On the night he received his commemorative 1,000-point ball, Pitt-Greensburg junior Matthew Marinchak scored 30 points while going 9-for-16 from the floor and 6-for-11 from behind the arc to lead the Bobcats to a crucial AMCC win over rival Mount Aloysius. Joziah Wyatt-Taylor recorded a double-double with 19 points and ten rebounds, making two three-pointers. Michael Bigley had 16 points, six rebounds, and three assists, and Trent Rozich scored 12 points with seven rebounds himself.

The game was much closer than the score indicates, but huge shots by Marinchak, who had a double-clutch three, and two huge three-pointers from freshman Jahmir Collins sealed the deal for the Bobcats. The Bobcats made 12 three-pointers and shot 55 percent from the floor and 81 percent from the free-throw line. Pitt-Greensburg scored 17 points off 14 Mountie turnovers. Mount Aloysius did a good job in transition, scoring 18 fast break points. The score was tied seven times, and the lead changed ten times in the game.

The Bobcats will celebrate their senior day and will still be fighting for the No. 2 seed in the AMCC Tournament against Pitt-Bradford inside Chambers Hall on Saturday. Tip-off will be at 2 p.m., and senior day festivities will occur before the game.
