Baseball Splits With Chatham

MUNHALL, PA – The Pitt-Greensburg baseball team came away with a series split as they played a doubleheader under the lights at West Field against the Chatham Cougars. The Bobcats took game one 4-2 and dropped game two 9-5.
 
Game One:
 
Juniors Ben Aftanas and James Domer hit back-to-back triples in the fifth inning, followed by an RBI single by Thomas Smith, breaking the 1-1 tie and giving the Bobcats all they needed. Sophomore Conner Burkey earned his second win of the season, pitching a complete game, scattering six hits over seven innings, and striking out seven batters.
 
Catcher Diego Santos threw out his second runner in as many games on an attempted steal. The Bobcats top three batters each had two hits and an RBI.
 
Game Two:
 
Junior Neo Miller led the Bobcat offense in game two as he had two hits and a walk with a double. Sophomore Zachary Tyson also had an extra-base hit with a triple and scored a run on a sacrifice fly by Joshua Preston. Junior Tyler Litts came in for 4.1 innings of relief, giving up just three hits and one earned run.
 
In the fourth inning, both teams combined for nine runs, four by Pitt-Greensburg and five by Chatham. At the end of the inning, the Cougars took an 8-5 lead, with Chatham adding the final run of the game in the sixth inning.
 
Up Next:
 
The Bobcats will return to Bobcat Park on Monday, hosting the Jackets of Waynesburg for a doubleheader. The first pitch of game one will be at 1 p.m.
