Domer Breaks Doubles Record; Baseball Splits with Waynesburg

GREENSBURG, PA – it was a day for offense in the Pitt-Greensburg baseball doubleheader against the Waynesburg Yellow Jackets at Bobcat Park. Game one saw a combined 33 hits and 31 runs over a seven-inning game that lasted two and a half hours. Game two was somewhat calmer but still had 21 runs and 23 hits, ending with a walk-off hit by a pitch for the Bobcats. The two teams split the doubleheader.

Game One:

The headline of game one was James Domer, who became Pitt-Greenburg's Triples king earlier this season and is now the double's king. His double in game one gave him 41 in his career, breaking the six-year-old record of 40 held by Bobcat great Chris Common. The double was Domer's third of the season.

Overall, the Bobcats had five extra-base hits in the game, including a no-doubt home run by senior Diego Santos. The Jackets scored eight runs in the second and seventh innings and tallied 20 hits.

Game Two:

The Bobcats scored seven runs in the bottom of the third inning, including home runs by Domer and his bash brother, Colin Solinski. Domer had seven hits on the day, including two for extra bases.

Senior Thomas Smith also had a day, accounting for six hits, including a triple in game one. Sophomore Nicholas Laubach pitched five innings in game two, giving up just two earned runs and striking out three. Junior Matt Mazzara came in for two innings of relief, striking out three and earning the first win of his season.

Up Next:

The Bobcats will return to the diamond on Saturday for their AMCC opener against 2024 runners-up La Roche. The first pitch of game one will be at 1:00 p.m. at Bobcat Park.
