Baseball Sweeps la Roche For First Time Since 2010

GREENSBURG, PA – The Pitt-Greensburg baseball team began its AMCC schedule on Sunday as they hosted La Roche at Bobcat Park. The Bobcat offenses exploded against the one-time AMCC powerhouse, exploding for 24 runs and 26 hits in the two games. The Bobcats swept the RedHawks for the first time since 2010.

Game One:

Sophomore Conner Burkey took the mound for the Bobcats in the team's AMCC Opener and gave Pitt-Greensburg nothing short of a masterclass. Burkey pitched the full seven innings, giving up four hits and striking out seven batters while walking just one. The complete-game shutout shrank Burkey's ERA to 2.63, giving him his third win.

The top three batters in the Bobcat order all had three hits, while going a combined 9-for-12 with seven runs scored. Sophomore Zachary Tyson also had a multi-hit game, and eight Bobcat starters came out of game one with a hit.

Game Two:

The RedHawks jumped to a 1-0 lead with a first-inning home run. The Bobcats came clawing back and took a 4-1 lead before the RedHawks could return to the box. Tyler Litts pitched a gutsy five innings to earn the win.

James Domer continued his hot week with another home run over the right field fence of the friendly confines of Bobcat Park. Domer, Diego Santos, and Neo Miller all had two hits. Miller also dazzled in the field with two outfield assists in the game. One cut down a run at home, and another threw and doubled up a runner after a spectacular catch.

Up Next:

The Bobcats will travel to Ohio on Tuesday to take on the Terriers of Hiram. The first pitch of the single nine-inning game will be at 4 PM.
