Bobcats Dodge The Raindrops; Split With Clark in Final Day of Florida Trip

AUBURNDALE, FL—The Pitt-Greensburg baseball team played in the rain for their last doubleheader in Florida on Wednesday morning. The Bobcats dropped the first game but took the second game, which was just five innings due to lightning, 6-2.
 
Game One:
 
The Bobcats jumped out to a 3-0 lead before Clark got in the batter's box, but the Cougars bats woke up for the 8:30 a.m. first pitch as they had 22 hits and scored in all of the six innings, they came up to bat.
 
For the Bobcats, junior Colin Solinski and sophomore Zachary Tyson had two hits, while Nicholas Laubach scored two runs and had an RBI.
 
Game Two:
 
Conner Burkey pitched yet another gem and earned his first win of the season as he went five innings and struck out five batters while giving up just two runs. Pitt-Greensburg scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to take their lead to 6-2 before the game was called due to lighting.
 
The Bobcats' top four hitters had two hits, while Laubach also had three runs batted in. Senior Thomas Smith scored two runs.
 
Up Next:
 
The Bobcats will travel back to Pennsylvania tonight and will next have their home opener on Wednesday, March 12, when they will host Grove City.
