Santos Goes Yard Twice, Smith Walks Off, Bobcats Defeat New Ken

GREENSBURG, PA – Back-to-back home runs by Colin Solinski and Diego Santos broke the Bobcats through and gave UPG the lead in the eighth inning, but a solid offensive approach by Penn State New Kensington tied the game back up in the ninth. The hero of the day was Tommy Smith, who belted a walk-off single to give the Bobcats a 6-5 win over Penn State New Kensington.

Senior Diego Santos had a career game himself, hitting two home runs and another ball to the warning track in right field. Santos has three home runs on the season. He also caught his sixth and seventh attempted base stealers.

Santos, Smith, and Solinski each had multiple hits on the day. Six Bobcats recorded a hit, totaling 11 in the game.

Steven Muratore started and pitched five innings, giving up just one earned run on six hits. Calvin Bernard came in for three innings of relief and struck out three batters. James Domer received the win after pitching the ninth.

The Bobcats are scheduled to play Bethany on Thursday at Bobcat Park. First pitch is at 4 PM.
