Baseball Falls to Muskingum in Non Conference Bout

GREENSBURG, PA – Wednesday's game at Bobcat Park gave the Bobcats a quick break from the grind of AMCC play. The opponent was no slouch as the Fighting Muskies of Muskingum paid a visit to Greensburg after receiving votes to be ranked in the top 25, despite being 7-7 in Ohio Athletic Conference play.

The game was a staff day for the Bobcats as a different pitcher took the mound in each of the nine innings. The Muskies tallied 11 hits off Bobcat pitching, with five going for extra bases. The Bobcats had four hits, including a double from junior Ben Aftanas. Senior Diego Santos caught another runner attempting to swipe a bag on his watch.

Junior Matt Mazzara had a great bounce-back appearance as the Bobcats' opener. Mazzara, JJ Siemon, Jacob Staraniec, and James Domer allowed two hits and struck out three batters combined while not giving up an earned run in their innings.

The Muskies used four pitchers, with starter Jake Roshau going five innings and earning the win. The Bobcats put 13 balls in play against the Muskies' southpaw and struck out twice.
