Bobcats Set Their Sights on AMCC Glory
GREENSBURG, Pa. – The Pitt-Greensburg men's soccer team is gearing up for what could be a defining season in 2025. Ranked fourth in the AMCC Preseason Coaches Poll, the Bobcats are aiming to break through to the conference title game after three straight semifinal appearances. While Penn State Behrend enters the season as the favorite, Head Coach Marc Bucci believes his squad has the right mix of experience and fresh talent to make a serious run.
"With the amount of experience returning and the positive contributions we're seeing from our newcomers, we're looking to reach the AMCC title game," said Bucci.
Farewell to Familiar Faces
The Bobcats will take the field without three key seniors who left a lasting impact on the program. Adam Yoder, sidelined by a season-ending injury, was a vocal leader and emotional anchor. Lucas Killen brought consistency and dependability to the pitch, while Bryce Weber was a constant source of positivity and team spirit.
Veteran Core Ready to Lead
Despite those departures, Pitt-Greensburg returns a battle-tested core. Matt Armenio, an All-Conference selection and one of the AMCC's Players to Watch, led the team with 10 goals last season and will once again be the focal point of the attack. In goal, Brett Barnes returns after starting 12 games last year, bringing stability and confidence to the back line. Senior Brayten Sedor adds leadership and grit in the midfield, while Arlo McIntyre brings athleticism and versatility to the defense. Cam Loveland, who logged the most minutes on the team last season, returns as the midfield maestro, orchestrating play and setting the tempo.
New Blood, New Energy
Coach Bucci is excited about the impact of several new additions to the roster. Lucas Pittman has shown early signs of being a scoring threat, while Austin Emery has impressed with his ability to create chances in the attacking third. Freshman Caleb Rumberger brings energy and pace on the left side, adding a dynamic edge to the team's wide play.
Coaching Staff Gets a Boost
The Bobcats' sideline will also feature new faces this season. Ben Fiore, a passionate local coach with experience at the club and high school levels, joins the staff with a reputation for positivity and tactical insight. Reese Laurell, a former UPG goalkeeper, returns to the program as a dedicated goalkeeper coach, bringing firsthand experience and technical expertise to the position.
Fast Starts and Big Goals
One of the team's top priorities this season is to start strong in non-conference play—an area where the Bobcats have historically been slow out of the gate. Coach Bucci emphasized that early performances will be key to building momentum and gauging the team's readiness for conference competition.
"We'll be able to tell a lot once we get into the start of conference play," Bucci noted.
With a strong returning core, promising newcomers, and a renewed sense of purpose, Pitt-Greensburg is poised to make a serious push toward the AMCC championship in 2025.
The Bobcats open the 2025 season this Friday as they host the Tomcats from Thiel College. Kickoff is set for 3PM at Ridilla Field
