The Pitt-Greensburg women's volleyball team took the court twice on Friday at Timken Gymnasium, facing off against Wooster and Oberlin in the Kilt Classic.
Match 1: Wooster 3, Pitt-Greensburg 0 (25-12, 25-16, 25-17)
In the opening match of the day, Pitt-Greensburg struggled to find offensive rhythm early but improved as the match progressed. The Bobcats recorded 12 kills and 42 digs, with Mia Stohon leading the way with 3 kills and 3 digs. Emily Hernandez anchored the defense with a team-high 11 digs, while Lilly Buckles added 6 assists and 7 digs.
Gianna Monzo contributed 2 assists and 7 digs, and Paige Phillips chipped in 2 kills and a solo block. Megan Cassaday posted a perfect hitting percentage with 1 kill on 1 attempt.
Wooster's consistent attack and strong serving kept the Bobcats on their heels, but Pitt-Greensburg showed resilience in the third set, keeping pace through multiple ties and lead changes.
Match 2: Oberlin 3, Pitt-Greensburg 0 (25-19, 25-19, 25-12)
In the second match of the day, the Bobcats came out with more offensive firepower, led by Mia Stohon who tallied 8 kills on a stellar .583 hitting percentage. Abigail Smulik added 6 kills and 4 digs, while Paige Phillips contributed 4 kills and 2 solo blocks.
Gianna Monzo and Lilly Buckles combined for 22 assists, with Monzo also adding 8 digs and Buckles 9. Emily Hernandez once again led the back row with 11 digs.
Pitt-Greensburg totaled 27 kills and 44 digs in the match, with their most efficient offensive set coming in the second, hitting .200 as a team. Oberlin countered with a powerful attack, hitting .377 and recording 48 kills.
The Bobcats return to the court tomorrow for Day 2 of the Kilt Classic, facing off against Westminster at 10:30am.
