The Bobcat Cross Country teams travelled to Allegheny College in Meadville PA to race in the Allegheny College Classic. This race marked the first time this season the teams would run an 8k/6k.
In the women's 6k, Slippery Rock took home the team gold while Carmen Medvit from Geneva took the solo honors. Pitt-Greensburg's top finisher was
Trinity Lockwood-Morris who turned in a time of 28:43.
Jocelyn Bielak and
Victoria Maher rounded out the top 3 for the Bobcats. Along with being the team leader, Lockwood-Morris was also the top finisher among all AMCC runners that competed in the event.
In the men's 8k, Baldwin-Wallace took home the team gold while Carlos Cheruiyot from Saint Francis took home individual honors. Pitt-Greensburg's top finisher was David Brokaw finishing in 32:22, a PR, and Tyshawn Brownfield finished just 1 second behind him.
Head Coach Jeremy Eshleman spoke highly of his team's performance in the event. "Today the women's team gained a ton of experience as for 3 of them it was their 1st 6k. Today ended up being a tough course against some very tough competition. It was a big stepping stone as our first 6k/8k of the season."
The cross country team returns to the course on October 4th as they host the Pitt-Greensburg Fall Classic at the Westmoreland County Fairgrounds.
