The Pitt-Greensburg men's soccer team dropped a non-conference matchup at Eastern University on Saturday afternoon, falling 6-0 at Olson Field.
Eastern struck early and often, scoring twice in the first half and adding four more goals after the break. João Tarabal and Zach Sievert each netted two goals for the Eagles, while Evan Cope, Camden Jones, and others contributed to a balanced offensive effort.
Forward Matt Armenio led the Bobcats with two shots, including one on goal, while Ethan Rose and Austin Emery also registered shots on target. In total, Pitt-Greensburg recorded six shots, three of which were on goal.
Goalkeepers Brett Barnes and Nick Braun combined for six saves in the match. Barnes made five stops in his 57 minutes of action, while Braun added one save in relief.
Defensively, AJ Karstetter and Vincent Padalino logged significant minutes, helping anchor the back line against a relentless Eastern attack.
Head Coach Marc Bucci reflected on the match and the opportunity it presented for growth:
"Eastern was the best we've seen this season and they exposed our weaknesses," Bucci said. "It was positive for the group to be challenged like we were today. Today's film will help. Eastern punished our mistakes and it will be important to learn from this before Albright."
The Bobcats will get a week off to rest and recover before traveling to Reading, PA Saturday to take on Albright. Kickoff is scheduled for 7PM.Â
