Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men’s Soccer Drops Physical Match to Waynesburg at Ridilla Field

The Pitt-Greensburg men's soccer team fell 1-0 to Waynesburg University in a physical non-conference matchup Saturday afternoon at Ridilla Field. Despite a strong defensive showing and several attacking opportunities, the Bobcats were unable to overcome a second-half goal from the visiting Yellow Jackets.

The game's lone goal came in the 56th minute, when Waynesburg's Josh Smith found space and finished to give his team the lead. Pitt-Greensburg goalkeeper Kaleb Eddy was solid in net, making four saves, including a crucial stop on a penalty kick in the 63rd minute to keep the Bobcats within reach.

Offensively, Pitt-Greensburg recorded five shots, with two on target, and earned five corner kicks in the first half. Nick Stuck and Mitch Murray each forced saves from Waynesburg keeper Deven Patel, but the Bobcats couldn't find the equalizer.

Head Coach Marc Bucci credited Waynesburg's approach and acknowledged the physical nature of the contest:

"Very physical, again. Credit to Waynesburg for their constant pressure during our buildup to make it an uglier game."

Despite the setback, Bucci emphasized the importance of learning and moving forward:

"No choice but to move on with the away game tomorrow. Should be a similar game to today so hopefully we can learn from our mistakes to create more chances on the offensive end."

Pitt-Greensburg (1-2-1) returns to action Sunday with a road test at Wilson, looking to bounce back and build momentum heading into conference play.
