The University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg men's basketball team used a fast start and balanced scoring to earn a 74–55 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference victory over Alfred State on Saturday afternoon at the Orvis Activities Center.

Pitt‑Greensburg (15‑3, 7‑2 AMCC) opened the game by scoring on four of its first five possessions and never trailed after the opening minutes. Trent Rozich got the Bobcats on the board with a layup off an offensive rebound, and a jumper from Matthew Marinchak gave Pitt‑Greensburg a quick 6–2 edge.

After Alfred State briefly took an 8–6 lead midway through the first half, the Bobcats responded with a decisive run. Arkel Batts scored eight points during a 14–0 stretch that included back‑to‑back layups in the paint and a jumper at the 11:30 mark to push Pitt‑Greensburg ahead 20–10. Tony Martin added a three‑pointer off the bench moments later to extend the advantage.

Jackson Byer fueled the run with his play on both ends, converting a fast‑break layup off a steal to make it 34–18 with 4:34 remaining in the half. Pitt‑Greensburg capped the opening period with a corner three from Ty Keffer in the final minute and took a 41–30 lead into the break.

The Bobcats continued their momentum to start the second half. Marinchak scored on the opening possession, and Rozich followed with a layup and free throw as Pitt‑Greensburg stretched the lead to 46–33. Another Marinchak jumper at the 14:03 mark made it 53–33, marking the team's largest lead to that point.

Alfred State managed to cut the deficit to 17 midway through the half, but Pitt‑Greensburg answered again. Back‑to‑back baskets by Tyler Freas and a jumper from Michael Bigley rebuilt the cushion to 22 with just over nine minutes remaining. Byer later connected on a three‑pointer with 3:16 to play to effectively seal the outcome.

Rozich led Pitt‑Greensburg with 13 points and five rebounds, while Byer added 12 points, eight rebounds, three assists and two steals. Marinchak finished with 11 points, and Batts chipped in 11 off the bench. The Bobcats shot 50 percent from the floor and totaled 38 points in the paint, while the defense forced 15 turnovers.

Pitt-Greensburg returns to action Wednesday as they travel to Mount Aloysius for a 7PM tip.
