Pitt‑Greensburg put on an offensive clinic Wednesday night in Cresson, pulling away early and never letting Mount Aloysius back into the game on its way to a 102–77 road victory. The Bobcats shot a blistering 60 percent from the field and 53 percent from three while piling up 27 assists, showcasing the ball movement and depth that have carried them through AMCC play this season.
After Mount Aloysius scored the first basket of the night, the Bobcats quickly found their rhythm. Jackson Byer hit Pitt‑Greensburg's opening shot, a jumper to tie the game, before Trent Rozich buried a three to pull the visitors even again at 7–7. For several minutes the teams traded scores, with Byer and Michael Bigley answering each Mounties basket as the pace picked up. When Byer followed his own miss with a tip‑in at the 12:54 mark, it seemed to spark the Bobcats, who began to impose their pace and defensive pressure.
Moments later, Rozich sliced through the lane for a layup to give Pitt‑Greensburg its first lead, 15–14, off a feed from Ty Keffer. From there, the game swung firmly toward the Bobcats. Bigley knocked down a pair of free throws to extend the edge, and then the long‑range shooting began to take over. Bigley and Byer combined for three triples in a span of just over two minutes, with Byer's transition three at 4:28 pushing the lead to 36–20 after a Rozich steal ignited the break. Keffer joined in with two threes of his own, including one off an offensive rebound kicked out by Rozich, as the Bobcats turned a tight contest into a commanding advantage. Byer tacked on another fast‑break layup before halftime, allowing Pitt‑Greensburg to enter the break leading 45–31 after shooting 55 percent and hitting eight three‑pointers in the first half.
The Bobcats wasted no time building on that lead when play resumed. Bigley opened the second half with a quick three, and shortly after, Matthew Marinchak buried another from the right wing to extend the margin to 18. Pitt‑Greensburg continued attacking the paint as Rozich scored on a drive, Byer finished twice at the rim, and Rozich added a tip‑in at the 16‑minute mark as the lead swelled past 20. Marinchak converted a fast‑break layup a few minutes later, capitalizing on another defensive takeaway, and Bigley scored on a strong move to the basket as the Bobcats maintained complete control.
The depth of the roster became even more evident as the second half progressed. Tyler Freas delivered a burst of scoring off the bench with consecutive fast‑break layups—both assisted by Byer—before stepping out to hit a three that pushed the advantage to 77–53 with under ten minutes remaining. Keffer knocked down another from long range at the 7:25 mark to keep the margin at 20, and Arkel Batts added a corner three a few minutes later. By the closing minutes, Pitt‑Greensburg had emptied the bench, yet the scoring didn't slow: Jason Flemm drilled a three from the left side off a Ryan Kull assist to give the Bobcats their 102nd point of the night, sealing one of their most efficient offensive outings of the season.
Byer led the way with 22 points on 9‑of‑14 shooting, including four threes. Bigley added 19 points and seven assists, while Rozich posted a double‑double with 15 points and 11 assists to orchestrate the offense. Keffer finished with 11 points on perfect three‑point shooting, and 13 different Bobcats scored as the team piled up 28 points from its bench. Pitt‑Greensburg's passing was superb throughout the night, with 27 assists on 39 made baskets, along with 25 points off turnovers and 16 fast‑break points.
With the win, the Bobcats improved to 8–2 in conference play and continued their climb toward the top of the AMCC standings, turning in a performance defined by poise, pace, and precision on both ends of the floor. They return to action Saturday to host AMCC leader Penn State Behrend with a 4PM tip.
