Bobcats Battle Early, Fall to La Roche at Home

Pitt-Greensburg dropped a conference contest to La Roche on Tuesday afternoon, falling 24-3 at home.

La Roche jumped on the Bobcats early, capitalizing on defensive miscues in the opening inning. The Redhawks plated four runs in the top of the first, using a combination of walks, timely hits, and an error to take control before Pitt-Greensburg could settle in.

Despite the early deficit, the Bobcats answered in the bottom half of the inning when Tommy Smith launched a solo home run to right field, cutting the lead to 4-1 and providing an early spark.

La Roche, however, continued to apply pressure offensively. A solo home run in the second inning pushed the lead to 5-1, and a three-run third inning—again aided by an error—extended the margin to 8-1. The Redhawks added another run in the fourth to make it 9-1.

Pitt-Greensburg threatened in the fifth inning, stringing together quality at-bats. Landon Snider singled to start the frame, and Jonah Marks followed with an RBI double to left center, trimming the deficit to 14-2.

The Bobcats added one more run in the sixth inning. After Colby Rearick reached and moved into scoring position, Josh Preston delivered an RBI single to bring home the third Pitt-Greensburg run of the afternoon.

Offensively, Pitt-Greensburg was led by Smith's home run, while Marks and Preston each drove in a run. The Bobcats collected six hits on the day, with Rearick, Snider, Solinski, and Marks each contributing to the effort.

On the mound, Tyler Litts took the loss after La Roche's early surge. The Bobcats used multiple arms in relief, but the Redhawks' lineup remained consistent throughout, finishing with 23 hits and scoring in six different innings.

La Roche broke the game open with a five-run fifth inning and continued to add on late, including a six-run seventh, to secure the 24-3 final.

The Bobcats will continue the season series with the Redhawks Saturday with a doubleheader at La Roche.
