Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Bobcats Fall to Behrend in Defensive Battle

ERIE, PA – The Pitt-Greensburg Men's Basktball Team visited the Penn State Behrend Lions in what was tabbed as the AMCC Game of the Week between two teams that were in the top four in the standings of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference. Not only was this an important game in the standings, it was a game circled by Bobcat Head Coach Chris Klimchock, who spent the past five years as an assistant at Behrend.

The Bobcats were within three points at the half, however, the Lions outscored Pitt-Greensburg by 11 points in the second half to win the game 66-52. Both teams had players that ranked in the top five in the AMCC for scoring average in JoJo France and Kenny Fukon. France came into the game averaging 18.7 points per game while Fukon is averaging 19.1 points per game. Both these players led their respective teams in scoring, however Fukon's double-double of 18 points and 12 rebounds was just too much for the Bobcats.

France was the lone player in double-figures for Pitt-Greensburg, dropping 12 points. Micah Jones was one basket away from a double-double of his own, scoring nine points while securing 11 rebounds. The 52 points Behrend held the Bobcats to is the least amount of points Pitt-Greensburg scored in a game this season. The Bobcats defense wasn't slouching either, holding the Lions to their third-lowest scoring game of the season.

The Bobcats shot just 30.4 percent from the field and 22.7 percent from behind the arc. The 30.4 percent from the floor was the lowest of the season, while the 22.7 percent from behind the arc was the second worst percentage of the season.

Pitt-Greensburg falls to 2-2 on the season in conference play while Behrend improves to 4-0 in conference and extends its overall win streak to six games. The teams will meet again on February 2nd when the Lions visit Greensburg.

The Bobcats will take the court again on Saturday, Jan.8 when they host the Mavericks of Medaille. Tip-off will be at 4 pm.
