Women's Volleyball Stuns Fayette in Five-Set Thriller

Box Score LEMONT FURNACE, PA – The Pitt-Greensburg volleyball team earned its first win of the season in a five-set thriller in which the Bobcats fell in the first two sets, only to storm back and win the final three sets to shock the Nittany Lions of Penn State Fayette.
 
The Bobcats fell in the first set 25-22 in a back-and-forth affair. UPG led 17-13 before the Lions scored five of the next six points to tie the game at 18. The game was tied at 20 before Fayette was able to take control.
 
The Nittany Lions started out fast and controlled the majority of the second set, taking it 25-20. Everything turned the Bobcats way starting in the third set. UPG led for the early part of the set, however, Fayette was able to battle back and tie the set at 15. It was 20-19 before UPG was able to string a couple points together and take the set 25-23.
 
The Bobcats were trailing 23-20 in set four before they were able to rattle off five straight points to defeat Fayette and tie the match at two sets a piece. UPG dominated the second half of the final set, soring the last eight points after being tied at seven to stun the Lions and spoil Fayette's home opener.
 
Pitt-Greensburg will travel east on Route 30 and take one the Bearcats of Saint Vincent on Friday. First serve will be at 5 pm.
