Bobcats Drop Offensive Battles to Mount Aloysius

GREENSBURG – The Bobcat baseball team was in a midweek offensive slugfest with Mount Aloysius today as the teams combined for 37 runs as the Mounties swept the Bobcats 8-5 and 14-12. Freshman Colin Solinski continued his offensive terror as he hit two home runs in game two, giving the Mounties all, they could handle in the process.
 
Game one saw two runs scored up through the fifth innings as the teams were tied at one heading into the final two innings. The Mounties were able to score five runs in the sixth inning to take a 6-1 lead. The Bobcats battled back with four runs of their own, but the Mounties were able to score two insurance runs in the top of the seventh inning to give them the win.
 
Bobcats starting pitcher Michael Sullivan Jr. moved into second place for career strikeouts in Bobcat history surpassing Ben Sorosky who had 123 from 2006-2009.
 
Game two saw 26 runs on 33 hits combined, including four home runs and six extra base hits.A two-run double by pinch hitter Braden Marcellus gave the Mounties just enough as the Bobcats had two runners on in the bottom of the ninth inning, but couldn't get the runs home.
 
The Bobcats will travel to PS Behrend to take on the Lions this Saturday.
