Baseball Continues Hot Streak, Sweeps Hilbert

LEWISTON, NY – The Pitt-Greensburg baseball team traveled to  New York to take part in the AMCC Games of the Week against Hilbert. Both teams came into the matchup with 12 wins and 1-1 in conference.
 
The Bobcats ace, Nathan Mankoski came through once again, bringing his win streak to start his career to five starts as Pitt-Greensburg doubled up the Hawks 14-7 in game one. A seven-run fourth inning is what did it for the Bobcats as the team batted through the order. All seven of the Bobcat runs were unearned as errors haunted the Hawks.
 
Pitt-Greensburg continued its offensive firepower with 13 hits in game one, including five from the top two spots in the lineup in James Domer and Ben Aftanas. The two also combined for five runs and five RBI. Senior Will Thorp also had a good day at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
 
Senior Randy Hubbard came in and closed the door on the Hawk lineup, pitching the final two innings, giving up just one run.
 
Game two was tied at five after five innings, but a three-run seventh inning put the Bobcats ahead for good. Steven Muratore got the win for the Bobcats after coming in for relief of Michael Sullivan Jr.. Muratore pitched four innings and gave up just two hits. The win is his second of the season.
 
Domer had a huge game at the plate, going 4-for-5 with three runs scored and a RBI. Colin Solinski and Christopher Hammond also had multi-hit games.
 
The Bobcats will be back at it on Monday as they travel to West Virginia to take on Bethany.
