Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Women's Volleyball Competes Well in First Day of Bearcat Challenge

LATROBE – it was quite a day for Pitt-Greensburg sophomore outside hitter Madison Friess as she recorded 26 kills over two matches, but it was not enough for the Bobcats to come out with a victory in day one of the Saint Vincent Bearcat Challenge. The Bobcats dropped their first match of the day to host Saint Vincent 3-1. The Bison of Bethany took the nightcap by a score of 3-0.

It was a competitive match between the Bearcats and Bobcats as the first three sets were all withing four points. The Bearcats took sets one and three 25-21 while the Bobcats took set 2 25-23. The hosts finished off the visitors 25-19 in set four. Grace Bradley and Abigail Smulik both had double-digit assists while senior Alanna Mely had 20 digs in the match.

Pitt-Greensburg took Bethany to the brink in the first set of their match up but ran out of gas in what would be their sixth and seventh sets of the day. After dropping set one 25-23, the Bobcats couldn't muster enough to get to the Bison in the final two sets. Friess had 25 digs in the match.

The Bobcats will return to the Carey Center tomorrow at 10:00 AM to face RIT and again at 4:00 PM against the Titans of Westminster.
