The Pitt-Greensburg men's soccer team will begin its postseason journey on Saturday, November 1, with a first-round AMCC playoff clash against Mount Aloysius. The Bobcats and Mounties are no strangers to each other—just days ago, they battled to a 1-1 draw in their regular season finale on October 28.
In that match, both goals came from the penalty spot. Gonzalo Terricabris converted for Mount Aloysius, while Matt Armenio answered for Pitt-Greensburg, continuing his strong season with his sixth goal of the year.
Mount Aloysius enters the playoffs with a 10-5-3 overall record and a 4-1-3 mark in conference play, earning the No. 4 seed. Pitt-Greensburg, the No. 5 seed, finished the regular season 7-6-5 overall and 4-2-2 in the AMCC.
Players to Watch
For Mount Aloysius, junior forward Tanner Polcyn has been a consistent threat, tallying four goals and three assists in conference play. He registered two shots on goal in the last meeting with the Bobcats. In net, Sam Denchfield anchors the defense with a 1.33 goals-against average in AMCC action and made three saves in the recent draw.
Pitt-Greensburg will look to Armenio again for offensive production, while Arlo McIntyre will be key in organizing the back line. McIntyre has contributed one goal and four assists this season and has been a steady presence in the Bobcats' defensive unit.
What's at Stake
With both teams evenly matched and familiar with each other's style, Saturday's playoff game promises to be a tightly contested affair. The winner will advance to the AMCC semifinals to take on #1 seed Penn State Behrend on November 5th. Kickoff is set for 3:00 PM at Mount Aloysius.
